Previously: [Submission Statement Edition](https://lemmy.world/post/3297922) Haven't done these in a while, so let's get started. 1. Since we haven't really heard any feedback one way or the other, *rule 8 is now official*. To be fair, we've had a lot less microblog posts than I expected (only one Twitter/X post in the last month even after I waited longer than the initial 1-2 weeks expected, and that was a crosspost.) - Again, the rules are always a work in progress, feel free to give your two cents here whenever you like. 2. As you guys know, PipedLinkBot went completely insane 2 days ago and looks like it's temporarily shut down. So, I'd like to use this opportunity to explain why I banned the bot pretty much immediately after our community reopened. (And gloat a bit, of course) - Even though I do agree with the principle of using open source, privacy focused frontend instead of using Youtube directly, I have a real problem with using a bot to respond every time somebody posts a Youtube link. It feels like spam, and it doesn't feel like it serves any utility besides pushing an agenda (even though many people here would agree with it). Most people have seen it around here enough to use pipedvideo if they wanted it to use it already. - I think it's always been a rage inducing part of the reddit experience that you see you received a response to your comment, but only have it been a bot smugly correcting your grammar or tell you all your letters are in order or something useless like that. So, for this place, I would like to make sure that everyone you talk to here is a real person as much as possible, because people inspire people to be greater, but bots don't.

I have a Samsung S20, it's starting to have issues, so I'm looking at something decent, need large screen 6in+, prefer powerful phone for future proofing. I don't intend to glash it the 1st year, last phone I put a custom ROM on was my Note4. Right now I'm looking at the 1+ 12 and the pixel 8 pro, the pixel 9pro is just out of my price range. Is there anything else I should be looking at?

The forum is still open for discussions and questions. I have been using the [Syncthing-Fork](https://github.com/Catfriend1/syncthing-android) version, but since it is based on this app, this may be the end for that app as well.

Suddenly my phone began to consume a lot of battery. And this is the most of consume... What is this? I recently installed "yet another call blocker" , can it be that?

I am looking for a app which allows you to watch your camera but with a delay. Usecase: Film myself while training and watching the screen a few seconds later shows me what I did. Bonuspoints for free/open/libre apps...

It's funny that companies like Google have stopped giving chargers in the name of being 'environment friendly' but in spite of conforming to USB PD standards, third party chargers can't still charge the Pixel Pro to it's maximum capacity, so you are essentially forced to buy one.

Personally paid for Niagara launcher as I find that to be the far superior launcher to any other I've tried. My second one is Symfonium, the most feature rich and well developed audio player. What are yours?

I switched phones recently, and am very satisfied with my Xperia, but there's this one useless icon in the taskbar that annoys me a bit and that is like to hide, but I can't identify it, could someone help? I tried SystemUI tuner, but it doesn't list it as one you can blacklist in the list of toggles, and I don't know how to find it's key to add it as a custom one. Tried turning off calendar notifications, but that's not it - it still shows. Does anyone know what it is and how to hide it? It's a minor annoyance to be sure, but it's completely useless, and I'd like it gone if possible. Thanks in advance for any help!

I've been looking for something like the old app making 3D wallpapers from GCam lens blur photos, but found nothing. This is not the same, but it is quite good nonetheless.

Okay, so I never thought I would truly see someone abuse their phone like this. I thought it was a crazy accusation that people made to defend the durability of their favorite phone. However, my coworker has a Galaxy S21 ultra and it looks like a car ran over it. I know he has the dropsies with it but yesterday at lunch time he had a slice of pizza that was in a paper bag. He sat down, put his phone on the bag. He realized it was in the way of getting to his slice, and he just flicks his phone face first onto the concrete like it was normal and sat back to eat his pizza leaving the phone on the ground. I know this isn't technical stuff about rooting and custom roms but I wanted to vent. Lol.

Chromium shift

After a lot of discussion i think I'll totally shift to Chromium based Browsers (on android side not desktop) I was using both gecko and chromium Browsers on my phone. So I need some suggestion to choose a chromium Browser . It should be open source and privacy respecting. Any recommendations ??

LibreWolf is a great privacy oriented Browser for desktop. But there is no version for android or IOS . There are some like mull but they have their own problems. Mobile phones stay with us most of the day. So we need extra privacy for it.
