It's usually a team effort. Usually when we're disagreeing it's some tiny little thing like how much sedation or pain or anxiety medication is needed, or which specific modality of treatment is indicated for something. The pain and anxiety thing can also go either way, sometimes it's the nurses wanting more meds for the patient and sometimes they're thinking less should be used and same for the doctors. And the other common disagreement is usually a disagreement of statistics vs lived experience, so the doctors are looking at the big picture of how things play out across large populations in places across the country or even world, vs nurses are thinking more in terms of their specific population and environment and what their specific team is trained and experienced at pulling off. Big picture vs individualized. There's also some overlap though, they're pushing more nurses especially in higher ed to learn more about stats and they're pushing doctors to individualize things to their patients and teams.

This is all to say that there are a lot of extreme moments where we'll both just look at each other like what in the actual fuck is happening. We don't always agree on the exact solution but we can usually at least come to a rapid consensus that what is currently happening is unacceptable.

If emotional salary is another word for higher nurse:patient ratio I'm actually all for it and would treasure being able to slow down and both conserve more energy for myself and have more time to actually feel like I'm taking care of people instead of shoving pills in people's faces and running on to the next one. That's also a functional raise in that I'd be doing less overall work for the same pay.

But realistically that is also an increased expenditure for my boss same as paying me more and they're actually talking about more tea carts and pizza parties.

Was just talking to my coworker last night about how ppl be sayin' dumb shit like "ratios aren't the only thing that affect quality of care its more complex than that!" It's 90% of the problem. Stop acting like that other shit matters even half as much and admit that 90% of the problem has a super simple fix that you just don't want to pay for.

Same with housing and the mental health crisis. "Well it's more complex than that people actually also need-" shut up. Just shut the fuck up. If any other problems in the world had super simple 90% fixes and then you only have to worry about the remaining 10% complex part we would be jumping on that shit.

To me the wildest thing about trump's appearance is that he can obviously afford to hire a world class stylist and listen to their suggestions and they could nip, tuck, exfoliate, micro needle, microblade and whatever the fuck else they're doing these days to people until he's an immaculately polished if somewhat uncannily stepfordesque Hollywood perfect geri-ken doll. Instead he does shit like this.

Its like gentle passive parenting with 0 proffesional assistance when your kid has conduct disorder (pediatric precursor to antisocial personality, the newer, updated version of psychopathy). "Can you please put the knife down sweetie? Knives make people sad!"

They make such great trip sitters / spirit guides. When I did a bunch of psychedelics a voice told me we were going to the otherworld but if I got lost in there or something was scary I just needed to open my eyes and look for the cat (she's very needy and always hangs out nearby when I'm home). Practically speaking I suppose that was my inner voice or wisdom or whatever guiding me through an intense neurochemical experience but it did work really well.

And justice being served eventually also doesn't help the person get the care they need in a timely manner. Abortions are safer when done earlier in the pregnancy, and often there are more legal hoops that have to be jumped through later in the pregnancy if they're not barred altogether. A court case settled a year or more later doesn't do much to help a woman who needs care now whether it's for immediate physical safety or to prevent her body from being used for life support for another person without her consent.

I mean you could legitimately make the argument that there's no reason for the government to recognize their marriage. There's no reason for them to be recognizing Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu, or Sikh marriages either. A truly neutral government would recognize partnership contracts at best. Really the government should be getting out of their marriage. instead they've got the whole Rules for thee not for me thing going on.

Not that this makes them any less brave but I suspect many of them know they're next. The same people that want the Palestinians dead are the same people that want them dead eventually too, its just easier to let Israel handle Palestine for them first. They've stopped talking about Jewish space lasers juuust long enough to slander people who don't support Israel as antisemetic.

It also helps to start doing reality checks while awake such that they become habitual enough to occur while dreaming. You want to specifically check things that tend to be vulnerable to dream logic like clocks or books because they'll often change if you look away and check / read them a second time.

I also had a workplace where the admin kept accusing us of "gossiping" about them. The misogynistic implications were not lost on a group of (mostly) female nurses who were actually mostly discussing how they were being horribly mistreated by their superiors. These people were really tryna act like we were bullying them; our bosses. YOU CAN'T BULLY YOUR BOSS.

Idk that I really do small talk OR do philosophical conversations with my partner but I'll let you judge. Here's the sort of things me and my partner say to each other throughout the day:

• wanna play [whatever co-op we're into lately]? (Then several hours of strategy discussions)
• did you eat all the chips again you FUCKER followed by BITCH WHAT IF I DID YOU ATE ALL THE OREOS???
• If all dogs go to heaven do their people have to be there for it to be a dog heaven and does that mean hitler is in heaven because he had a dog?
• miscellaneous bitching about our jobs
• wanna fuck
• the dog pissed in the elevator again it's your turn to go clean it
• did you see the sweater I put the cat in?
• Debates about whether or not a taco is a hot dog or vice versa
• how many toys do you wanna get out for the fucking and more importantly how many are you willing to clean
• that book you made me read is really melodramatic but I agree it's about black mold.
• we should go visit the hot tub vs no it's too fucking cold vs that is the point of it being a HOT tub
• wanna play cards against humanity with the cat
• debates about who will hold the cat while we trim her claws
• yelling at each other for being too loud while the other is sleeping and which offense is fundamentally more heinous (dayshifter vs nightshifter)
• discussing the biopunk visuals in lexx and how they would have made all the butthole windows out of fabric
• random nonsense words and noises like doing an entire karaoke bit but all the words are "doodoodoodoo doodley dooooot doo"
• discussions about farscape's costuming department's extensive use of bondage gear
• putting peanut butter on TOP of the dog's snout then filming her
• what if we feel like we're seeing God when we're on mushrooms because the mushrooms ARE god and we're all just fundamentally here to feed them
• blaming each other for the peanut butter thing to get the other person to clean it up
• talking about weird internet personalities like chrischan or the tile patterns guy
• calling each other old for stuff like heartburn after pizza or chronic injuries flaring up with the weather

You can also use him for the quests THEN kill him. Personally I think that plotline is mostly funny in the pure absurdity of his character, but like many things in that game (crassius curio anyone?) he's pretty damn sketchy to say the very least. Personally my fave councilor out of all three houses is Aryon, who is significantly less sketchy.

Honestly my biggest issue is getting randomly banned from trans spaces for expressing my own lived experience with surgery and how I view my own body and gender. They're so "inclusive" that they start excluding people that don't use their very specific language or share their beliefs exactly. They keep kicking people out then wondering where all the people went!

Also she's gotta be all those things already while he works on them.

Sorry like the patients actually assigned to me personally vs the patients assigned to other nurses. I keep getting roped into caring for other people's patients so they don't rile up my patients. And then before I know it I'm practically holding up a whole damn unit by myself.
