Hi, I'm a first year CS student and this 3 month period of vacations I want to follow a good free course on programming. If it's possible, I also want to learn how is the process in which a code written in a text editor can become an executable with it's GUI in the operating system (currently using Linux), because I really have no idea how that works. Browsing the web for it have become overwhelming and I'm finding trouble in deciding what to follow, and I also need some order in order to learn things. I would really appreciate if you can tell me if you know any course that meets this requirements.

Hi, I tried endeavor, Linux mint, manjaro, mx Linux, and I don't remember what else. I have a question, is Gnome really popular? For me it doesn't make sense, it feels it was made for tablets or something like that.

If I remember correctly I liked manjaro and endeavor when I tried them, but the "night color" feature which is very important to me wouldn't work Idk why.

I have an epson L4260, I downloaded a driver that was supposedly for Debian, it was a .deb file that I installed but nothing happened, I added the printer but it just wouldn't print.

I have been distro hopping for about 2 weeks now, there's always something that doesn't work. I thought I would stick with Debian and now I haven't been able to make my printer work in it, I think I tried in another distro and it just worked out of the box, but there's always something that's broken in every distro. I'm sorry I'm just venting, do you people think Ubuntu will work for me? I think I will try it next.
