Yup! Tusky for sure, don't know about the other apps. The official app is great but missing many features still. Give Tusky a go if you decide to try Mastodon again!

I bet it is the same reason that I had: can't follow or unfollow tags from official app (or atleast I haven't found a way to do so, please help).

ukraine community over at sopuli is great if you sort by new, just trying to get more traction there in the form of people commenting. Posts for info, comments for fun.

Yup! I'm pretty excited for what's going to happen in the next 2 months! As for the timelines: Could be, there are two threads discussing this. Here is the second one.
Personally I'm up for anything, I'd just like to stop constantly switching between 5 communities that are all the same but on different instances.

This is possibly in the works I believe. They are currently discussing about the implementation and what additional things it could bring to the table that would make it work even better (for example somehow integrate the idea with Mastodon hashtags).
The link I provided is old, but there is still active discussion and many more contributors, so we could see this happening soon!

No, it doesn't! I bet many of us had the same experience :)

I'm so sorry about the post settings... Didn't realize that affects federation!
And I agree, I couldn't read or watch anything related to the topic after realizing it's seen as a goal. I do see it as a great starting point into being more mindful of the life around you.
Thank you for taking the time to rewrite your answer!

I am so sorry I did not realize Kbin does that... no wonder I've had issues. I usually post on my lemmy account but have really been liking kbin lately. Seems I don't even have an option to post with "undefined" language.
Now, you put it exactly how I feel about this topic! I got into it from a blog post, checked out the infamous "minimalists" and Marie Kondo, but felt like the message is the same and feels like they are just trying to make a lot of money on the concept of minimalism after the first two paragraphs of text. Be it podcast, netflix show or anything else.
The great thing I got from it all was the mentality against consumerism. I didn't realize how social media conditioned me to follow the latest trends and buy the newest gadgets.
Thanks for your awesome response (and sorry about the post settings).
To me it all started with bumping into r/minimalism years ago (shoutout to [!minimalism@lemmy.world](https://kbin.social/m/!minimalism@lemmy.world), the migrated r/minimalism) and reading books about it. I noticed that with minimalism came simple living, enjoying the small things in life. I often feel like they are interconnected due to this, but this could just be my experience. How many others had a similar experiences, or did something else bring you here? Also welcome experiences about directly searching for simple living topics and bumping into this community (originally on reddit).

Lemmy has been running for 4 years (don't know how long they developed it before releasing the first beta), Kbin barely for 2 months. Just putting that out there! Love both though.

Nevermind, cleared cache and refreshed the page and set them again to display and then hide again - you are right it's broken. Hopefully they fix it soon.

I personally liked the gold-silver awards, but felt like adding million award options really cluttered the UI. But I agree it's a great way to get some money for server hosting.

Don't know if you mean that profile pictures hiding should be a magazine specific setting, but you personally can hide profile pictures (and magazine logos) in your side bar settings.

There used to be direct links on plcman forums (.co.uk) but I believe they stopped maintaining the forums and none of the links work anymore. Sadly I haven't been able to successfully find any cracks / cracked licenses for PLC software in a long time and don't work in the automation industry anymore.
If you are working in an automation company, for siemens software you can still pretty much do the old: install on a virtual machine, move licenses, shutdown virtual machine, copy paste virtual machine -routine since the license manager still doesn't connect to any online sources to check.

This hasn't been documented (and I haven't tested), but I'm fairly certain that on user level you can't block your comments and posts from getting federated with other instances. That would be instance-admin level settings.
The federation on/off button should only hide federated content from you, but I'm not sure if it even applies to the stuff that has already been loaded into your feed, as I still see some content from other instances if I turn it off, but could be due to other kbin users who have commented on the thread so you'd only see kbin users comments.
Still waiting for bit more documentation on kbin, but I'm sure a lot of it will change as ernest and other contributors work on the code.

Awhile ago we had this awesome thread going on where people could tell us about their favourite magazines (and some were created on the spot):
I'm quite new to the fediverse, and noticed that on kbin you can actually see who downvoted a post or a a comment (and not only your own posts and comments), by clicking on the "activity" button. My question is, how does this translate to Mastadon? I haven't seen a "reduce" button and was wondering if it is the same as "block" or "mute" on Mastodon?
Please go comment there, so others might possibly find communities to grow :)
Lets make a thread to post our niches that we have found here. Big magazines are ok too. I'll start: [/m/mechanicalkeyboards](url), so glad it migrated here! Edit: You can add a direct fediverse link (so that any users from any fediverse instance looking at this post can click on it) with the following two methods: Click on the "link" button in the text editor, or manually write in the following format (all together): [ /m/mechanicalkeyboards ] ( [https://kbin.social/m/mechanicalkeyboards](https://kbin.social/m/mechanicalkeyboards) ) OR (all together): @ mechanicalkeyboards @ kbin.social Edit 2: magazine / community names are case-sensitive apparently, mind the uppercase letters!
CROSSPOST to a helpful beginners guide to Kbin (the link takes you to a different Kbin instance). Sorry if I did this wrong, I have no idea if there is a proper way to crosspost. Please let me know if there is.
