Add political ads to the last one too.

99% of the time it’s either an outright lie or stretched exaggeration of the truth. No one is getting any correct information from a political ad except either side’s specific spin on it and it causes a lot of average people to incorrectly believe they are informed on who and what they are voting on that they don’t need to do more due diligence before heading to the polls.

Also favors rich politicians and more well funded campaigns over less well off politicians and less well funded organizations and causes.

But still requiring that piece of shit, knock off launcher “Ubisoft Connect”, so this means nothing.

Only benefit to users is better customer service and refund practices through Valve and integration with Steam community. Other than that, fucking useless if you’re still requiring users to download and install that shitty launcher, Ubisoft.

Just need to make sure it’s not doing some phone home stuff after the fact, or cut it from ever reaching the Internet at all. I wouldn’t put it past any big corporation to be pulling that with the guise of the app being local and double dipping by selling data at a later date.

Linus Tech Tips did a good job exposing Anker for doing this with security cameras that were supposed to be local only but were found to be uploading pictures to their servers.

Never connected to the Internet. This was straight out of the box and didn’t connect to a network at all.

Seems some computers have been updated to later versions of Windows 11 before being boxed up and these newer versions have this even if you never connect to a network.

Doesn’t work anymore if the computer has been updated on Windows 11.

Two of my family members bought two different laptops from Walmart on the same day about a month ago and asked me to help them set them up. This method worked on one but not the other. Nothing I did on the second worked. I even got Task Manager to open and close the OOBE but then the computer restarted and wouldn’t let me do that again.

Edited for clarification: Both computers never connected to the Internet prior to or during initial setup of Windows. I always try to set up a computer without connecting to the Internet because of crap like this. The second computer simply hit a virtual brick wall and wouldn’t let me proceed until I connected to the Internet to sign into a Microsoft account.

I ended up having to sign in with my Microsoft account and then create a local account/andmin and then delete the account with my Microsoft account attached.

Feels a bit like the Masterchief portrayal in mostly never wearing the helmet during the show and fans have wondered if it was because the actor had a caveat “I want to make sure I’m known to be the actor behind this iconic character.”

I mean, I understand, but at the same time, you’re taking on a role as a character who has been portrayed in a certain way by the existing fanbase for decades.

Your appearance you bring is supposed to mirror what has been established, not who you personally are.

The few times I’ve had friends set me up never ended well. Those were usually the worst, in terms of compatibility.

It’s funny I guess how friends view you. Either that or they just want their friend groups to be one big “family”.

I’m not surprised to see such a huge drop there.

Have you compared settings differences in the UEFI between the two computers? I’ve found that some settings needed for Windows 11 to boot cause some Linux distros to fail. I believe it was secure boot or something similar to that that was my specific issue.

Most definitely. I used to carry 3 laptops with me, one being Windows, another being my MacBook, and another being a Linux laptop. I now only carry the Linux and Windows laptops and traded the MacBook for a newer iPad Pro. I definitely became accustomed to all 3 OSes keyboard shortcuts.

You do find some overlap which helps. Mac was a bit of a struggle and still is with my iPad’s keyboard in figuring out whether it’s CMD or CTRL key for the shortcut. Even worse was when I used it to remote into a Windows computer as some used one and others used the other as the CTRL key in Windows.

Just takes practice and you grow as you go, the more you use it.

I have the “portable” kind where you can just put it under the toilet seat you have and it connects to your toilet’s water system that brings in water. It was about $30 off Amazon.

It is really straightforward, but my issue was that after I installed it, I had unknowingly unscrewed one of the components in the toilet and it was leaking and I needed some help to figure that out and get it fixed correctly. It was when I was screwing in the new T shaped pipe that it was unscrewing something in the toilet.

There are also the kind that can come built in a toilet, usually on the higher end toilets, or you can get one of the dedicated bowls that is like a secondary toilet seated next to your toilet too.

It’s sad how there are people out there who look down on the bidet. It really is a game changer. I still use toilet paper, but the process is so much cleaner and easier.

When putting it in, an older family friend (male) asked me, “oh you got that for your lady friend?” No…I want to save money and have a cleaner experience as a male.

Mine does that. It has a big button on the back that just turns on the brightest setting and then turns it off. The button on the handle will let you cycle through 3 brightness settings and then the strobe effect.

It’s just some off brand, probably from Amazon, that my uncle bought for my dad and I took when my dad passed away.

Me as a non-Canadian, I’m not familiar with this. What exactly are they doing and who are they directing these to? Is it one person or many others or is it to be in general to the Canadian population?

On point number two, I mean that’s probably because most industries, especially media, have been dominated by males for decades and are just now having more female presence in the last decade in greater, more pronounced roles and numbers.

  • I went and saw The Wild Robot over the weekend without knowing a single thing about it and ended up enjoying the movie a lot. I truly think part of that was not knowing anything about the movie except seeing the poster, knowing the title, seeing the rating, and knowing it was for kids and was animated (which was evident by the poster and rating). Beyond that, I was clueless. I didn’t even know if the robot would talk or not. The story unfolding out for me entirely was nice to experience. I won’t ruin any parts of the movie for anyone who may be in my position too, but if you’re into animated kids movies with a hint of sci-fi, you’ll probably like this movie. I only became aware of this movie as I was checking on times for Alien Romulus and saw this instead. My girlfriend’s son is obsessed with robots so I knew this was likely a movie he’d like to see. The only place where I’m bombarded with ads anymore is on YouTube on my phone and TV where my adblockers don’t work. So I had never had this movie advertised to me in the usual way others have been. With the way YouTube ads work, I usually get bombarded with the same repetitive trailers that make the movie obnoxious to me after seeing the same trailer for the 100th time. And it seems that the theme over the past few decades is to spoil parts of the movie in the trailer. Like one of the trailers for Dogman that was shown before The Wild Robot in the theaters tells us how Dogman becomes Dogman… Being for kids, I’m sure it doesn’t matter and it’s not the focal point of the movie, but like, I would have preferred to find that out when watching the movie, not beforehand. Speaking of Alien Romulus, I’m a fan of the Alien movies but the trailer before Deadpool 3 showed soooo many of the crew’s deaths that it really spoiled the movie. Part of my thrill of the Alien movies for me is finding out who survives from the crew of each movie. But not this one… which is why I still haven’t seen it. I just felt really unmotivated to go see it when it released last month and I didn’t see it this weekend because I’m okay with waiting for it to release for home and maybe I’ll forget what I saw in the trailer by then. But The Wild Robot was exciting and very enjoyable and I think a lot of that had to do with the fact I knew very little. I know that a lot of people share the same sentiment about trailers spoiling the movie, but my unpopular opinion is that I don’t want to see *anything* about it beforehand, in most cases. Give me a poster, title, rating, and I can figure out the rest as to whether I’d like to watch it or not. This is not to say that movies should never have a trailer of any kind. No, far from it. Just don’t advertise the trailer so repetitively and even more than that, make the trailer available for watching on demand. If I am interested but still on the fence because your poster or title didn’t convey enough, then I can go searching for the trailer on a site like YouTube and watch it for myself.

Talking about _those_ artists who are world famous and always have their treasured instrument(s) like Willie Nelson and his “Trigger” guitar. Where do these artists typically store their instruments when not performing? If on tour, do they keep it on the bus or in their room? I know everyone is different, but just wondering about some examples and/or the general places they’d keep them.

Hey all, I upgraded to iOS 18 yesterday, so wondering if this is possibly due to that or something on the Voyager app’s side. I’ve noticed today that if I’m on my profile’s page, or viewing a specific post, or browsing a specific community, and then I leave the Voyager app for a time to go to another app or the iPhone’s “desktop” and then come back to Voyager, Voyager will do a refresh and then go to the main page, which I have set to show All. It also refreshes the All feed whereas before it would stay where I left it when browsing All. Is this a new update or did iOS 18 implement something that is causing this? Anything that can be done to not allow this to happen? Thank you!
