having a debate with a friend-
so Dredd is a great action movie and even though its main character is a literal cop chud fantasy, a main theme of the movie is that the Judges of the megacity are a deeply flawed and fucked up org full of cold blooded murderers and opportunists, and dredd himself is only a partial exception. the villains are very clearly shown to be psychopaths who are AT LEAST as bad as the judges, and the collateral damage to civilians from doing a war in a compact apartment complex is a central focus of the movie. my q is, is Dredd copaganda in the sense we generally use that term? it is, by definition of having a super-cop as its protagonist, but imo there's more artistic value to it than, say, your average network cop drama

i've been playing a ton of Risk of Rain 2 since gearbox fixed it, and paying way more attention to the music in the game. it's absolutely sublime, Chris Christodoulou's soundtrack is frighteningly perfect for the game and i hope to christ he isn't a fascist b/c the music is perfection and i need someone to admire

i remember reading here about an alternative theory of evolution that was pretty compelling, where they state that organisms evolve rapidly over a very short time inbetween incredibly long periods of stagnation, and how thats contrary too the bourgeois narrative of slow gradual change (ie reformism). if someone could link that author I'd appreciate it

my only real issue with it is the whiplash editing, like every episode ends so goddamn abruptly and so do a lot of scenes. its like they're just trying to get through the show as quickly as possible, like they're annoyed they even have to do it. but then some scenes go on for way too long and are too boring like wtf

i'm in a similar boat, got diagnosed with fatty liver a few months back after being a functional alcoholic for years. my blood pressure was also through the roof at the time which prompted the doc to run a bunch of blood tests, both of the liver enzyme tests were "markedly elevated" but thankfully all of the tests for actual liver functioning were well within normal range. i abstained completely for 6 weeks and they both went way down again to near normal and my BP went back to normal as well AND i lost 8 pounds. then she told me i just need to lose weight and eat healthier, in addition to watching my booze intake. i also got hella bills for all the blood tests/ultrasound they ran that makes me not want to go back for a bunch of follow-up appts to check my progress like she was pushing for lol
i've started exercising regularly since the new year but i haven't been great about the alcohol, i fell off the wagon again shortly after that last appointment. i wanted to go totally sober again for the new year but i went through a 12-pack of seltzers this weekend after a very stressful week. on the positive side, i've really pinpointed what my triggers/reasons for drinking are (mostly anxiety spiraling due to... gestures around vaguely everything about the world and the fact that i don't feel like i have a future) and for the most part i didn't like how the booze made me feel this weekend. its just not worth it when it fucks with my body so hard. anyway if i keep rambling i'd have to make this its own post but i needed to get this shit off my chest. main takeaway: thank god we don't have cirrhosis

it's fully online, there's even public servers you can just join if you want to
i don't care at all for horror games, and i never played phasmophobia which everyone says is similar to this game, but playing [Lethal Company](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1966720/Lethal_Company/) with friends is a blast. once you learn the game you can easily deal with most of the monsters and they become less scary, but the grainy gloomy aesthetic + huge replayability + cooperative focus really makes it special. and it only just released in early access and has already gotten a nice content update  best moment for me so far was going to an eclipsed planet, watching my two comrades walk out the door of the ship, one of them says "okay so we just need to be quic-" and then they both simultaneously got eaten by a giant sandworm and i immediately left the planet
