I legitimately want to run Linux as my desktop OS, please tell me how to meet my requirements.

    1. you could try Plex and PlexAmp. I believe you need to buy PlexPass but that can be a one time fee.

    2. if it hasn’t been mentioned then Immich is by far your best option here. I’ve tried most of the others and there isn’t much comparison in my opinion. Native mobile apps for iOS and Android are available. Browser for viewing from desktop.

I may have been wrong about helix being the cause of my LSP issues. One large typescript project I have will have performance issues but it may just be that project. I just found the same issue in neovim. Vscode is the only editor that doesn’t seem to have any problem with it.

I was originally hoping it would be resolved by this PR https://github.com/helix-editor/helix/pull/10539

I feel the same way. I’ve been using helix for about a month now and really like its paradigm. But I’m missing some of the neovim features. And I’ve run into some lsp issues that I don’t think are present in neovim

Is it really? It’s been a couple of years since I used Java, but vs code sucked for it compared to IntelliJ. I used vscode for everything else but could never make a Java workflow stick.

I mean I often watch the race late. So I just avoid social media. Lemmy is already lacking interaction. I don’t think we should stifle it further…

So I tried Crew chief on Acc. What a difference! It’s awesome!

Haven’t even played with some of the voice recognizable features yet

Used it for few years in a spring boot api layer. Absolutely loved it. Migrating to typescript now, but that’s not due to Kotlin.

    More due to

    1. not being a fan of spring boots magic
    2. our backend being very light
    3. wanting a unified language for our small team of full stack developers.

Haha it can be. Posts like mine don’t help. But at the same time I know there are people out there like me, holding onto their 10 year old g27 thinking it might not be worth it.

But if you are avid I think it is.

Sorry I can’t say that I do. I haven’t tried the switch to Linux on my gaming machine yet.

I keep hearing good things - but to be honest I just don’t want to tweak things. I just want to play.

  • I finally upgraded from a G27 to a CSL DD. Wow what an upgrade. If you’re on the fence - do it. You feel so much more of what’s happening on the road. Instantly became more consistent and a tiny bit faster.
