Lay practice in Tibetan Buddhism?

What do Tibetan Buddhist laypeople do as routine practice? Also, does it vary a great deal from person to person or group to group? All the practices suggested online add up to a part-time job or more, so I have to wonder what recommendations are given to people with jobs and small children (or demanding pets).
