I respect that dad's haircut. Accepted reality and keeping things neat. Strong man.

Yeah mixture of both, wouldn't you agree?
Sometimes you can get far by just being lucky.
Sometimes you can get far by just working hard.
You're most likely to get far by working hard and being lucky.
You can still not get anywhere even when you work hard.
Strong economies create more opportunities which means your luck factor doesn't have to be as high.

Thanks. Shame it's increasing but 58EUR is still pretty good value, no?

Do you have a link to the increase? I did hear about it but everything I see online just says it's extended in to 2024.

I'm not sure where my head was when I commented this.
Just getting at the idea that they're basically worshipping the thing.
We as people just really like worshipping stuff.
Maybe worship is the wrong word due to its religious connotations, but it's effectively the same thing to hold these kind of celebrations for items that we revere.
Anyway, I'm not sure why the above was relevant:)

It's called worship.
Not a bad thing, just shit when it's used to control people.
Good on them for expressing their appreciationane love (worship) for something that is expanding our knowledge.

If that belief held, based on Ukraine's statistics, it would be permanent rain now and for the next century or so.

I'm certainly not content with the labour government's handling of Israel.
I tried writing to my MP about it but they don't appear monitor their emails yet.
Very disappointed.

Meaning the last 6 years of his career there were on starfield, which he wasn't a manager of, if he quit 3 years ago.
This feels like a standard toxic gaming community thread where dismissing someone's achievements is for some reason fair game.
Dude held a job at a huge publisher for 14 years, then quit and developed his own thing.
Good on him!

I wonder what's happening...

Coming up as 3 downvotes on my client. I wouldn't say that's 'so many Lemmy users ' or am I missing something?

Hmm, my thinking was that journeys that use the full range of the electric vehicle are the exception though.
So in your example, it makes sense to have a ICE vehicle as you require the range. Most of us though don't need that range. Most of us are unlikely to regularly be driving over 200 miles for a commute, and therefore EVs make sense for all of these people.
For your scenario, if you are motivated enough to do this, it might even work out cheaper to buy an EV, and rent an ICE car for your longer trip. But fair enough that this would be much less convenient.
One source for my thinking: https://www.statista.com/chart/24684/average-duration-of-a-one-way-commute/

In the UK, that's pretty damn good money. If you are able to plan financially at all you can comfortably pay off a mortgage and live off that amount of money for the 12 years.

Makes sense that there would be some nerves involved then. Even if you're not feeling them consciously. I'm sure there's a risk to dating someone you've built such a good friendship with.
Good on you for going for it!

Is anyone else noticing a lot of repeated posts in their feeds recently? Almost each time I go through my subscribed, local, or all feeds I am now seeing the same post from the same community multiple times. I'm using 'last 6 hours' as a filter if that helps.
I hope articles like this about the Tories keep up throughout labours time in power so people don't forget on the next GE.
Good things bad things. Feel free to vent! We just made pizza together woop woop!
I'm trying to convince my wife to come over to lemmy but want to fulfill her community wants. Does anybody know any communities for mums or parents in general?
