Yeah that’s what I’m saying. Certain things will be global, but in terms of repair availability etc. you follow Louis Rossman? He’s been trying to get right to repair in Congress and meanwhile the lobbyists keep pushing back and some manufacturers are starting to just plain go evil. The shit some of them are pulling - in many industries. So I’m just saying we will get the kind of advantages that just have to be included due to logistics, but anything that’s local regulation we are getting worse and worse in the U.S.A. companies are rapidly jumping onto new levels of evil and the FTC has only now got a woman with balls - pardon the expression - but they can only do so much and it’s not even enough.

Wrong direction, pal. Yeah five to ten years ago maybe. But iPhone is sucking and sucking worse by the goddamn hour nowadays. I’m pretty sure I am on my last Apple device. I’m pretty sure the day Steve Jobs died, the board of directors all did a collective hands-together-shuffle and said okay, boys, now we can dispense with this silly insistence on perfection, and start to rake in some easy lazy money by shoveling dung.

Meanwhile, Android started to get more reliable and better performing rather rapidly. There’s such a wide variety of options and all except the top top at far better prices. iPhone is stagnant. They JUST implemented the ability to place icons however you want - like Android has done since day 1, and it’s buggy as hell. They take away good features because they decide they don’t like how it looks. They haven’t made anything significantly better in a long time, and autocorrect is at this point just off the rails.

Find a nice Android device don’t switch.

I think lots of these years are more than a little dubious and people think differently without there being autism involved. I’d hope that these results are only considered in conjunction with other tests that confirm or refute the potential conclusions in order to find consistent patterns before any consideration of autism is entertained. But I don’t really know. There’s a lot of bias nowadays in science, unfortunately.

Wow! I think Louis Rossman will be happy about this, although the U.S.A. lobbyists are most likely trying to push in the opposite direction. I mean, we stand to benefit in that manufacturers are unlikely to make different models, but anything beyond the physical can be differentiated by region so they can continue to screw the consumer senseless in U.S.A. while the EU actually continues to do good for the consumers.

I would first decide like what kind of genre and type of personality you’re looking for. Then I’d Google “famous…. &&&s from history” like inventors, or military leaders, or doctors, etc. to find available choices. You could also search for “notorious” for people who aren’t totally good, or “unsung / uncredited” for people who did great achievement but never got credit or fame. You get the idea. Narrow down what you’d like first, because otherwise there’s seriously too much to choose from.

There was never any such ideas being part of it. It affected plantlife and bacteria as well. The idea of a soul to begin with is not even supported by science, although most people consider it to have some kind of validity, even if it's not quite definable. But the relevant issue is that it's all life period.

The U.S.A. will never inflict justice on its own people, how else besides rampant mass criminal activity are those small groups supposed to rule the world?

It’s not a meme, it’s a psychological concept. It boils down to when you attribute a motive or a mindset to someone when in fact you’re only speculating based on that of your own. So if you assert that someone let’s say is doing something because they’re afraid of xyz - and in fact there could be many reasons and there’s no real evidence of what you’re claiming, but if your peers know that that is a characteristic of yours, they might accuse you of projecting.

FRP does not mean stolen phone. More often than not it’s one of many many other reasons. But that’s fine you don’t do something you’re not comfortable doing. Totally respect that. It’s just a very quick thing to conclude when more often that’s not the reason.

Also, I know many ways to do it and have succeeded on many, but sometimes something in the phone is glitched. As is the case here.

Ok my friend, here is my bunch of devices that I have available for customization. My idea situation would be anything that lets me get the best out of the device. If that means Lineage, or Havoc, or any of the other dozen or so ROMs, or even just GSI or AOSP. Barring any of those as an option, root access at least so I can manually debloat it a little.

  • First of all, yes I have gone through droves of posts on XDA and frankly it’s a mess, but I can tell you that after following a few threads that just refer to themselves in loops, there’s no actual solution. I have an LG US730 which was rooted and everything was great. I must have toggled something in SuperSU - I think maybe the option to be rooted during boot. Anyway, now all I get is Security Error and it shuts off. None of the recovery power on switches will work. The only thing I could do is VOL+&- power while the usb is plugged in and it goes to a download in progress screen. Of course nothings happening and I need to remove battery in order to get this powered off at this point. Anyway, I’d love if anyone has a tool to repair this. LG’s utilities all do nothing at all I think they’ve purged the back-end of older stuff so the programs that should download something and proceed simply wait forever. ![](https://lemm.ee/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Flemmy.world%2Fpictrs%2Fimage%2F7ad6e17e-9e51-44d5-8749-ab352be9af8a.jpeg) ![](https://lemm.ee/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Flemmy.world%2Fpictrs%2Fimage%2F52aacd7f-f286-4ccc-b956-765918e5a52e.jpeg)

Now I cannot boot even into recovery mode :-(

Hey, how would you go about this: I have let’s say hundreds of files, most of which contain some emoji characters in the filenames. How to script - or if an app can do it great! - parsing all these files and removing those … idiotic characters. Not for nothing but yeah Unicode is great, lots of languages yada yada, but emojis? Fucking emojis??? Ian Malcom thinks just because we could, doesn’t mean we should! So yeah. Back in the day when I did some developing in VB, I guess I’d load the filenames into memory as strings and then do an _instring_ replacement to null of any character that is within the char() range. So… if I could find out the range wherein lay the damned-to-hades-for-eternity emoji character set, I’d null those out or replace them each with an E for Evil. So… anyone know the easy approach to scripting this? Or is there an app that will already do it? I’m gonna look through all the options in krename kfind etc. all those but I doubt any of them has this. Anyway thanks if you have any ideas. Especially something I can save and just use on a directory of files anytime.

Hey all, Want to know what are my options for example, Lineage 18, or AOSP Android, or something else. The reason I want to do this is it has Android 5 and there's just too much that won't work on it. Also I want more control as in remove junk I don't want, move apps to SD, etc. Not have stuff run and waste CPU and RAM. If anyone has specific knowledge about this device and what's the best option, or even tell me what any given option offers best, that would be very much appreciated.

I don’t need it to be with zero effort, but most of the instructions I find these days on XDA forums are extremely ambiguous and assume the reader is someone who does this every day and therefore knows most of the steps and what the terminology means. Years ago when I used to do stuff like this more, directions were written meticulously and without abridgment of any elements. Seems today it’s not common for someone to go to the effort. I’m extremely proficient, that’s not the issue. It’s just most instructions say stuff like “Step 1: root the phone. Hey all, I want a firewall app for just basically to enforce restrictions on outgoing communication based on service or app. It is mostly to block data harvesting. For reference, if anyone remembers there was one for iPhone called Firewall IP and it was just perfection. That was back when we could jailbreak. Anyway, so that's all I need. Free is best, of course, but I would pay a bit if it is an exceptionally good product. No problem paying for quality. But I will have no interest in anything that's subscription based, nor anything that I need some kind of backend "approval" or login in order to install and use it. In other words, I want to know that if in a hundred years I happen to have a working phone from today, and the apk file, then I can install it. Obviously that's *reductoi ad absurdum* but you get my point. Thanks for any recommendations. P.S. I'm not rooted, if that matters. Although I am still interested in possibly getting a replacement ROM for my device.

So I was recently talking about a few phones I had bought used, which have FRP lockout. So, the one I was talking about working on at the time is a Galaxy J7 Sky Pro. Well I finally used DroidKit on it, and after a moderately lengthy procedure, it is FREE of the lockout! So the software is not a scam, it actually did work. I have been having trouble with another phone because when it gets to the stage where it needs to dial \*#0\*# it supposed to bring up the factory mode to test various components. I’ve seen this on other phones work but this one, a Galaxy A01, it doesn’t bring up that mode. And it can’t continue. Another phone I have is a ZTE and that’s not one of the supported brands in Droidkit. But one worked! Which means likely it’s fairly reliable. So that’s cool.

Hi all, Okay so my Galaxy Tab A7 Lite has arrived. I did some searching and it seems like there are a million options as far as replacing / hacking the rom. So, all I want to do is have root access, and be rid of any bloat that’s built in. I prefer whatever is most tried and true, and whatever does not have any iffy components still. Like, I want everything to function without glitches, I want to get the most out of my hardware, and other than that, I really don’t want a 100-step process. So, recommends? What’s available that’s very reliable and what does it offer me? (Eg: GSI+Root, Lineage, Havoc, et al) I appreciate any advice. Thank you.

Hey all, I was about to setup uBlock Origin in chromium, when I saw the notice that it may soon be ended due to not following best practices, etc. I looked this up and some articles and posts state that Chrome is discontinuing content blockers / ad blockers soon. Will this apply to the chromium app in Linux? Other than for testing purposes, my usage of Chromium is for the ability to make some sites into webApps. I just like some to be isolated with their own window and icon. The standard response I see to pretty much anyone is that they should switch to Firefox and stop wanting the webApp. I saw some comments that Firefox does not and will not implement webApps due to some security issues (?? not sure why). I don't understand how it is difficult just make a standalone window with a custom icon choice. I see no reason that has to compromise anything at all, but I am not a developer. I'm getting off-track here. So, is Chromium going to go the way Google wants it to go for Chrome? It was my understanding that Chromium is kind of an offshoot and not just up to Google in terms of its course. Will we be able to use extensions that Google doesn't want, and have to get them from a new repository instead of the chrome web store? Any insight on this would be appreciated, thanks.

Hey, so I know you can tap on a dock icon to launch the app, but when the dock is more than full and requires scrolling to shift the icons, this still cannot be done with the touch screen, based on docks I have tested. I tried the built in docks in Gnome on Pop, Ubuntu, and also Plank. None respond to an attempted drag via the touch screen. Are there any less widely known ones that do? Are there any plans to bring this functionality to the dock in Gnome?

Hi all, I just wanted to say hello. I’m an adult and came to realize in the past few years only that I’m probably on the spectrum given some of my tendencies. When I was a kid there was no label autism other than the most extreme cases. As it turns out, my son - late teens - is on the spectrum and also has ADHD. He struggles with a variety of aspects but he’s also strong and insightful. He learns about himself more all the time, and I also have the benefit of being able to relate to some of his challenges. So I just thought I’d say hi; very glad to have discovered this community. I’m around most of the time to comment or converse. Best wishes to everyone, and I’m hoping to have some rewarding conversations in the future.

Hello all, In a previous installation I was able to successfully use PlayOnLinux to run a few Windows apps. My most recent system, though, is not liking it. Currently on Kubuntu 24.04 WINE is present and up to date. However, when I tried to install PON from either Discover, or using APT, the app crashes immediately. I never even get to the GUI. I read on the page for the app in Discover, numerous others complain about this exact problem. Anyone know about this and how to resolve it? I included the link to the app's website because there are numerous versions and it states you need to use the correct one. I don't know what those different variables mean, so could someone please advise? (deb files, Cosmic, Trusty, Bionic, Xenial.... etc. I don't understand these). https://www.playonlinux.com/en/download.html Thank you to anyone who can assist.
