There's really only one reason for Rockstar to release Grand Theft Auto 6 later on PC

Eh, seemed more like unnecessary cynicism to me.

when has long-term growth and stability ever been prioritized over short-term wins in the games industry?

I dunno, maybe Valve's entire approach to Linux and devices. Maybe GOG's dedication to only selling DRM-free games. You'd think PC Gamer magazine would be well aware of these.

I saw a comment a while ago where someone calculated the equivalent wealth of fictional dragons (e.g. by estimating the dimensions of Smaug's vast gold trove in The Hobbit) and determined that real billionaires are far worse hoarders of money. Like 1000x worse.

I should try to find that comment again.

  • Is the OSx version of Disco Elysium on GOG Native to Apple Silicon?
  • Deconceptualist Deconceptualist 4d ago 100%

I don't know what GOG galaxy is but I assume it's a storefront like Steam.

Yep, basically that. No you don't need it to launch games, I would skip it if this is your only game from GOG.

Sounds like if you run by opening Galaxy and hitting play, it won't be the native version and will run through Rosetta 2 but if you run it from your applications folder it's the native version. This is a bit odd because that makes it sound like by default what you have installed is BOTH versions which sounds like an awful waste of disk space

I don't game on Mac these days but that seems very plausible.

If you do want another launcher option, Heroic works on Mac. I'm not sure if it gives any different options on what version to install. https://heroicgameslauncher.com/

  • Is there a way to check if a Steam game uses Steam DRM?
  • Deconceptualist Deconceptualist 4d ago 100%

The original Kerbal Space Program is another. You can uninstall Steam completely but still launch the game just fine. It's actually pretty handy if you want separate mod loadouts, just copy the whole directory.

In contrast to this exec and many of the responses, another Steam Next Fest is happening right now! Go play free demos of upcoming games, 99% of which are Indies you've probably not yet heard of.

Last time was in 1969, so it's been a while. It was a pretty minor fire compared to previous ones but got national attention and partially led to the creation of the US EPA and Earth Day.

  • What dessert or junkfood do you always keep in stock at home?
  • Deconceptualist Deconceptualist 1w ago 100%

Girardhelli brownie mix. Not claiming it's the best ever but it's 100x better than the Betty Crocker or Duncan Hines crap. But there's also the barrier of 5-10 mins prep and 25+ mins baking so it's not instant gratification y'know?

Once you bake a pan though it's pretty great for the next day or two. Assuming you're not too concerned with your waistline.

Edit: Oh and a box is like $3 at Big Lots. But you do have to supply an egg and cooking oil.

A friend and I had a little fun with Ultimate Chicken Horse. It's a goofy little Mario Maker type of game where you create levels and challenge each other to complete them but I think you can also run through them cooperatively.

  • What non-game paid apps do you use that are worthwhile and still relevant in 2023? For context, I have a decent amount of Google Play credit thanks to Opinion Rewards and a gift card. I'm not looking to start a book or movie collection there, nor sign up for subscription services. But I'm happy to buy the paid/pro version of useful apps. I'm excluding games just because that's a whole topic on its own. Here are some one-time paid apps I've been happy with: - [Tasker](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.dinglisch.android.taskerm&pcampaignid=web_share) - [Titanium Backup](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackupPro&pcampaignid=web_share) - [SD Maid](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.thedarken.sdm.unlocker&pcampaignid=web_share) - [BigBag](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.best.grocery.list.pro&pcampaignid=web_share) - [Wolfram Alpha](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wolfram.android.alpha&pcampaignid=web_share) EDIT: Shoutout to ijeff@lemdro.id who helped get an [even better thread](https://lemdro.id/post/547676) going over at !android@lemdro.id. Check there for even more great app suggestions!
